PGPN is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing to coordinate delivery of services under the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative through the Access to Allied Psychological Services Project (ATAPS).
The ATAPS Suicide & Self Harm Program primary objective is to provide treatment and support to individuals at high risk of suicide and / or self harm. It is not intended to increase the number of high risk patients being managed by GPs nor divert patients from the public health system.
ATAPS - Suicide is available under the following criteria
| • | All GPs have access to the Program, |
| • | Available to patients irrespective of age or income, |
| • | All services are offered at no cost to the patient, |
| • | 8 intensive, individual counseling sessions are offered to the patient, |
| • | GPs must fax a referral letter to the PGPN Mental Health Program on 9708 8157 |
| • | PGPN will contact an appropriate provider specializing in Suicide & Self Harm; the provider will contact the patient, |
| • | Services are provided by |
ATAPS Referral Update- Peninsula GP Network will require ATAPS referrals to include a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a ATAPS Referral Form. The referral form will allow us to maintain more accurate records for reporting and ensure referrals are handled promptly. Referral for psychological services rebated under Medicare is available upon completion of GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.
