» Immunisation

The aim of PGPN's immunisation program is to improve the childhood coverage rates and the number of electronic transfers of immunisation data to the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR). The primary focus of the program is providing support for GPs and practice staff regarding the ACIR and the General Practice Immunisation Incentive (GPII).

The Network assists GPs and practice staff to:

• Advocate immunisations to their patients.
• Ensure children from 2 months – 5 years old are vaccinated according to the childhood immunisation schedule.
• Report immunisation encounters to the ACIR.
• Use available resources to catch up overdue children
• Provide evidence based care through the dissemination of information and best practice guidelines.
• Up-skill and increase their knowledge.
• Utilise the Medicare Benefits Schedule item numbers
• Meet accreditation requirements as they relate to cold chain management and infection control.
• Report Adverse Events Following Vaccination
• Participate in infectious disease surveillance.
